How It Works

The tracker records each asset and liability entry locally in your browser, then sums all assets, sums all liabilities, and subtracts liabilities from assets to calculate net worth. It also groups entries by category so you can see where most of the balance sheet value is concentrated.

Example

If you track $20,000 cash, $50,000 investments, and a $15,000 car loan, the tracker shows $70,000 total assets, $15,000 total liabilities, and $55,000 net worth. As new items are added or edited, the totals update immediately.

When to use this tracker

  • Use it when you want one place to see total assets, liabilities, and net worth at a glance.
  • Use it when monthly budget work feels disconnected from the bigger financial picture.
  • Use it when you want a local-first snapshot that can be backed up and restored across devices.

What can count as an asset

  • Cash and bank balances.
  • Investments or retirement accounts.
  • Property or vehicles if you want a fuller balance sheet.
  • Business balances or receivables if they matter to your personal snapshot.

What can count as a liability

  • Loans and mortgages.
  • Credit card balances.
  • Taxes owed or informal debts if you want them visible.
  • Any obligation that reduces your real net position.

Important limitations

  • This tracker does not verify market prices or valuations.
  • It does not reconcile bank accounts or pull live balances.
  • It is a local planning snapshot, not formal accounting or tax reporting.
